러시아 모스크바에서 열린 ‘2013 모스크바 세계육상선수권대회’가 19일(한국시간) 막을 내렸습니다. 이번 대회에 출전한 선수는 총 1970명. 역대 최다 규모였지만 단 한 개의 세계신기록도 나오지 않아 아쉬움을 자아냈지요.

여러분은 ‘세계육상선수권대회’ 하면 누가 가장 먼저 떠오르나요? 이번 대회에서 세계육상선수권대회 사상 처음으로 단거리 육상 3관왕을 두 번이나 차지한 우사인 볼트(27·자메이카)? 아니면 장거리 육상의 제왕 모 패러(30·영국)?

세계육상선수권대회에는 육상 말고도 장대높이뛰기, 멀리뛰기, 포환던지기, 창던지기 등 다양한 종목이 있습니다. 인간의 한계를 뛰어넘기 위해 끊임없이 도전하는 선수들의 모습이 정말 아름답지요?
